“The Original Sunshine Princess of Poetry”
Shanie Ecole, known as Shanie the Poet, is a multidisciplinary artist, performer, and healer whose work radiates truth, resilience, and joy. Born in Woodbury, NJ, and raised in Detroit, she began sharing poetry at age 11 and quickly became known as The Original Sunshine Princess of Poetry—a title that reflects both her luminous spirit and powerful voice.
Her artistry spans spoken word, visual art, fashion, music, healing, and performance. She’s performed across Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, and beyond, with features on albums such as Yung-Ro’s The Counselor, Sincere529’s Red Swan Chronicles, the legendary Blacksnow’s Just Tryna Live My Dreams, and her debut book, Telling Secrets Since Birth. That book has since evolved into a living body of work—through stage, sound, and service—becoming a cornerstone of her mission to uplift and transform.
In 2022, Shanie released her second book, Healing Granted—a soul-stirring collection that channels ancestral wisdom, spiritual insight, and poetic truth. It deepens her legacy as a truth-teller and healer, offering readers a sacred space to reflect, restore, and rise.

In 2025, she released three powerful spoken word singles—"New Stages", "Hue-man", and "Are You The Next Icon"—each a sonic extension of her poetic truth and healing voice. These works amplify her presence in media and broadcasting, including her role as the writer of Iconix Radio’s theme song.
Shanie also hosts two signature shows on the Old Grumpy Radio Network:

- Shanie’s Sunshine Lounge, a vibrant, classy, and hip space where “the stars come out to play”
Her newest show, The P-Word, is set to air on Iconix Radio, diving deep into poetry, power, purpose, and the provocative truths that shape our lives.
She proudly holds the title of S.I.’s First Lady, representing Snow Industries—a legendary poetic family whose platform has created a safe stage for decades while producing high-quality events that uplift, inspire, and unite communities through the power of spoken word.
She also served as a former spokesperson for March of Dimes’ “Go Before You Show” campaign, using her voice to advocate for maternal health and early prenatal care in underserved communities.
Refusing to be boxed in, Shanie ventured into acting—bringing her expressive power to the stage and screen. Her theatrical credits include Karma, The Scarlet Letter, Millennium Women of Color, The Millicent Bradford Adoption Story, and Love Is.... She also appeared in the film PipeDreams, further expanding her creative reach.
Her visual art practice, awakened through spiritual exploration, has been featured in exhibitions such as Seeds of Gratitude (in collaboration with the World Youth Foundation), Texas City Art Festival, Pancakes and Booze Art Show, For Brown Girls Art Exhibit, and And Still I Rise Poetry Art Exhibit at The Legendary Deluxe Theater.
She is the founder of You Are Poetry (note cards, wire-wrapped jewelry, paintings) and Poetically THICK (a fashion line celebrating plus-sized beauty). She is a proud member of Prosperous Divas, a collective focused on truth, creativity, and community.
Her work has earned her widespread recognition, including a city proclamation declaring November 16 as “Shanie ‘The Poet’ Ecole Day”. From poetry to performance, healing to fashion, Shanie’s mission is to inspire, uplift, and remind the world—there’s no way to block her shine.
